Flash Earth

3 02 2006

Digg carried a post on FlashEarth which integrates MSN Virtual Earth and Google Earth in a browser. I think this is a very cool website. Looks like the days of desktop are virtually (pun intended) over!

Anonymous proxy service

31 01 2006

I don’t like to leave an electronic trail behind wherever I have gone online. I really hate it when people collect information regarding my IP address, operating system, and screen resolution that I am running. Some websites have even been rude enough to portscan me. I used to use anonymizer before they became a slow service to everyone who doesn’t have a subscription. Today I came across two more services listed on digg which lets you do exactly that, and I like what I found. These services are VPNTunnel and Vtunnel. Give it a shot and see if you like it.

Linux Memory Model

I came across this webpage which has a good description of the Linux memory model. I have already started reading it and plan to finish as soon as my schedule permits.

Must-have OSX Applications

29 01 2006

I have been using Mac OSX for close to an year now and I have been very happy that I made the ’switch’. I have so far found an application for ANYTHING that I would have wanted to do in the Linux+Windows world. This page lists ‘must-have’ freeware which is available for Mac OSX. I selectively use some of the applications listed on the page, partly because I am very particular about what I install on my computers.
